My heart pounded hard with anger as news of the 39-year old Male' resident, who sexually abused young boys, broke out like wildfire in the media. I stared at the TV in utter disbelief as reports came out of the police discovering high quality self-made photos and videos of him with at least 35 young boys.

What shocked me even more were the rumors that followed. Rumors that he was a known sex offender. What the hell was a known sex-offender doing running around free? Wait a minute, the police investigated 47.5% more child abuse cases in 2008. The prosecutor general's office had prosecuted 53.1% more offenders. Hurray!

Are we going to wake up tomorrow and yet again go, Oh well, life goes on! Are we going to do absolutely nothing until our own children fall victim to one of these sick bastards!? What could we do as mothers, fathers and as concerned citizens to bring an end to this problem of epidemic proportions? An epidemic that is, in my opinion, worse than any cholera or plague outbreak.

We should really voice out against this and show these perpetrators that we will not let our society entertain these deplorable acts. Name and shame and shun them away from society!
